Well Researched, But Not Really a Biography, by Kevin R. Kosar, November 2, 2007
Neufeld should be cheered for the astonishing amount of research he undertook to produce this hefty tome. The author may know more about the history of rocketry than any other person on earth.
Yet, I didn’t much like this book. Why? Simple- this book is packaged and sold as a biography of Werner Von Braun, yet, it is largely a history of rocketry.
Page after page one reads intricate details about this or that engineering project that Von Braun was involved with; but little of the book gives one a real feel for who Von Braun was. Perhaps those with a really deep interest in rocketry will enjoy this book. The rest of us, though, will find it a long, eye-glazing slog.
